Hi there.

Welcome. I’m here, and I’m glad you are, too. I’m Tricia Joy, lover of all things real: kindness, humor, story-telling, creativity, imperfection, God, honesty, cuss words, and a heck of a lot of and silliness.

My (early) New Year's Wish For You

My (early) New Year's Wish For You

Happy (almost) New Year!

I recently stumbled upon a notepad a dear friend gifted me a number of years ago. Decorated on the edge of each page are the words, “Be Kind To Yourself.” My question for you today and the new days of 2020 ahead is this: “How actively kind are you being to yourself?”

If you’re anything like me, your attitude of kindness toward yourself vacillates with your feelings. Some days it’s natural to think highly of, offer grace for, and be encouraging to myself. Then there are days when I feel unintelligent, insecure, and like I’m repeatedly failing at this thing called Life. Kindness-toward-self seems to accelerate or deteriorate in tandem with confidence.

You, too?

I’m treating 2020 as a humungous research project as to what Life 2.0 (or 3.0 or 4.0? I’ve lost count.) will bring. And – let me tell you – if you wonder how sure of yourself you are, attempting to monetize yourself and your gifts after being out of the game for a bit will bring the mirror right up to your scraggly face and say, “Not so sure of yourself after all, huh?”

Wherever you are on the Sure-Of-Yourself-O-Meter, I think self-kindness ought to be an every-flowing rain shower. We need kindness when we’re low. We need kindness when we’re high. We need thick, persistent, unconditional self-kindness no matter the condition.

My wish for you in 2020 is that you remember to gift yourself with more self-kindness than ever!
